Welcome

Who are we?

We are the Wiltshire Guild Spinners Weavers Dyers, part of the National Association and one of over 100 Guilds throughout the UK and a Registered Charity.  Our workshops are located in Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire where members can meet up and participate in a variety of crafts such as spinning, weaving, patchwork and felting to name but a few.

Would you like to join us?

New members will be given a warm welcome and if you want to visit our workshops please contact us and we will arrange a suitable time.  To join the Guild please visit our membership page here where you will find details of the subscriptions available along with an application form.  

Guild Programme 2023/2024

Our Guild Days are held on the third Saturday of the month and consist of talks, workshops*, skills days and a fleece sale.  Subjects are connected to spinning, weaving, dyeing and related crafts.  Members can attend these sessions held in Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire. (£3 door money).  Visitors are welcome at a fee of £10 where we have a speaker.  *Please note an extra charge is made for workshops.  (Our 2023-2024 programme can be viewed below).

Home Grown Exhibition

1st - 4th August 2024

The Wiltshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers is a craft organisation that is dedicated to the preservation of traditional textile crafts.

We are currently focusing our efforts on a major exhibition that is scheduled to be held
in 2024. This will be an opportunity to showcase the incredible talent of our members and to share the beauty of our crafts with the public.

Craft Groups

​

We have a variety of craft groups meeting regularly at our dedicated workshops in Steeple Ashton, including Spinning, Weaving, Patchwork, Creative Textiles, Knitting, SewingHandicrafts and Dyeing  See below for courses available.   

 

On the third Saturday of the month we hold our Guild Day where we have speakers, activities and a general catch up with all of our members.  Find out what's on here.

WGSWD Mission

The mission of the Guild is to preserve skills associated with our local heritage of rearing sheep and also to promote those skills and pass them on to the next generation. We do this by sharing our combined knowledge and skills, enhancing our individual areas of expertise by learning new things, and by offering regular courses in Spinning, Weaving and Dyeing.
